You’re Feeling Verrrry Happy….

RP73RSLD6-2[1] Ever heard painting a room lavender has a calming effect? Well I don’t know if that is entirely true, but I like to think that color has a huge correlation to my mood.  That being said, Turquoise jewelry is like one big  fat  happy pill.  It seriously revives the most dull looking outfit and adds an unexpected counterpart to a wide variety of colors.  Another bonus is that is always manages to look chic in an effortless,  laid-back way.  I know some people think that it is more of a Summer color but I’m telling you, this is a definite year-round staple!  In Oregon you have to make your own sunshine (because get real it’s going to rain till July) so  I’m wearing these earrings, a yellow cardie with dark denim and yes, an abundance of turquoise and gold.

I have always had a serious penchant for cardigans of any variety, the newest addition to my collection (above) was just begging to be paired with some Joli earrings which inspired me to photograph myself showing how I would wear these Joli jewels! I think it is so great to see these pieces come to life on an outfit…. Artist Jody Lyons uses vintage broaches, buttons and found goods in each of her creations, making  them feel modern with a little vintage quirk! Each time we receive an order I feel like I just hit the mother load at an estate sale or raided my fabulous granny’s jewelry box. (and HELLO check the price point!)

PS-Now I really want this necklace…why did it have to look so darn cute with my striped shirt?!

  • If you have any jewels you would like to see modeled or have any questions on how to wear a piece email maura@newtwist.com! Heck, we might even blog about it!

For my sweet girlfriends birthday, I put together this flower arrangement in a Seletti vase, that is a new line for us at the store.  It is a little porcelain milk carton that can be used as a creamer or a vase.  It loves orchids in particular.  If  you are in the area, pop by and we will happily show you the rest of the line.

P303-Love.JPG Valentines Day is right around the corner, and there is no better occasion to spoil your sweetie with new jewelry!  Every woman has her signature style that compliments her personality, and all of our artists understand that relationship.  Aurora Lopez’s Love ID Necklace is a timeless reminder of your affection.  Thomas Mann employs romantic themes in all of his jewelry paired with industrial motifs that speak to a modern woman.  Melissa Joy Manning’s delicate Pink Sapphire Ring is ultra feminine and looks great alone or paired with other gold bands.   The Heart Utility Bracelet from Square Not Studio is youthful and fun, and would be a great choice for your daughter.  For a woman with very refined taste the Me&Ro Gold Flower with Diamond Necklace oozes elegance, and offers effortless beauty.  Happy Valentines Day!

Winter is officially upon us, and here in Eugene the rain and gloomy clouds seem to loom for months on end making it hard to not feel drab and grey ourselves. When the weather is a little less than pleasant there’s nothing like a bit of color to perk me up.  That’s why this season I’m loving Jamie Joseph’s Amazonite earrings.  Their vibrant color is eye-catching and can be worn with a multitude of other colors, from grey and black, to orange and deep red.  These earrings are awesome with a little black dress, or can animate a t-shirt and jeans.  Another colorful favorite are these Carnelian Chandelier Earrings by Robindira Unsworth. The elegant style of the classic chandelier earring mixed with the bright stones give this piece a fun, funky vibe.  They are absolutely enchanting!  Next time you’re feeling a little down and gloomy, put on some color!
