Communion by Joy
Communion – noun. The act of sharing one’s thoughts and emotions with another or others; intimate converse
Communion by Joy is designed by founder Joy Smith, who allows herself to be a creative vessel through holistic modalities such as meditation and guidance by a higher spirit when designing these cherished pieces.
She has been sculpting jewelry for over 10 years and always loved art since childhood. Joy studied some art history in college and dabbled in painting and drawing, but found her calling for jewelry design working at an art gallery when she realized that she wanted to be the artist. She started taking lost-wax carving classes at night and was hooked! She loved the idea of being able to sculpt anything she wanted.
She finds inspiration in nature and the mystery behind the veil of life, and tries to capture these with her designs. She says, “When I give my attention to the life around me, inspiration follows. I love ritual and symbolism. I find my inspiration communing with the spirit in nature, animals and people. I love to make jewelry that carries an energy of inner-strength and contains the power from the design or the stones I set into them. I keep my creative fire going by connecting to people and their stories.”
All of the pieces are ethically sourced, made from recycled gold, are one-of-a-kind and unique.
