Care and repair
We want your jewelry to remain just as perfect as the first time you put it on.
Taking care of your jewelry
Wear it! First of all, it is beneficial to wear your jewelry often! The natural oils in your skin help to keep your stones and metals clean and conditioned.
Watch the soap: You should always remove your jewelry before washing & bathing to prevent soap build-up.
Storage: When you do put it away, we recommend storing each piece in its jewelry pouch, in a room-temperature, low-moisture environment. Some colored gemstones may be sensitive to light, lotions, perfumes, hairsprays, liquid immersion, and extreme temperatures. Gold plate & vermeil jewelry should be removed and safely stored before swimming or bathing to maintain its finish.
Cleaning: For metal jewelry, you can make your own cleaning solution using six parts warm water and one part ammonia. Dip your gold, platinum, or silver jewelry into the solution and scrub gently using a soft bristle toothbrush. Rinse in warm water and pat dry with a paper towel. Silver may require additional cleaning with the use of a tarnish removing polish.
If your jewelry needs a little extra attention, many of our artists offer cleaning & refurbishing services. We recommend this option over taking it to a local jeweler. Please contact us and we will gladly send your jewelry to the artist for cleaning.
Pearls & opals are especially sensitive to the agents we mentioned above. Avoid wearing them while swimming or bathing. Even cosmetics can be harmful to their luster. We recommend having your pearls professionally cleaned and restrung on an annual basis.
